Undergraduate Entrance Examination

There are three types of entrance exams for the Department of Physics, Kyushu University: the AO Exam II, first period entrance exam, and the second period entrance exam. There is also a special selection for those students who have returned from abroad, and an examination for admission as a third-year student.
(note: the schedule and capacity are for the academic year 2007).


  • AO Exam II (capacity: 10 students)
    applications: Nov. 13 - Nov. 17
    examination: Feb. 3
    a first selection is conducted by documentary examination, and secondary selection is conducted based on the National Center Test for University Admissions, and an interview.
  • First period (capacity: 42 students)
    applications: Jan. 29 - Feb. 6
    examination: Feb. 25 - Feb. 26
    Selection based on the National Center Test for University Admissions, and individual achievement test.
  • Second period (capacity: 6 students)
    applications: Jan. 29 - Feb. 6
    examination :Mar. 12
    Selection based on the National Center Test for University Admissions, and oral examination.
  • special selection for those students who have returned from abroad (capacity: a few students)
    applications: Dec. 4 - Dec. 8
    examination: Feb. 25 - Feb. 27
    The National Center Test for University Admissions will be exempted, and the selection will be based on an achievement test and interview. You must meet specific conditions concerning your stay and education abroad, to be qualified.
  • admission as a third-year student (capacity: a few students)
    applications: Jun. 14 - Jun. 211
    examination: Jul. 8
    Those that have graduated (or are expected to graduate) from a technical college or a junior college, second year university students are qualified. Selection is based on a written test and interview.
